Douglas County Probate Court to Hold “Valentine Vows” Wedding Ceremony on February 14th
(Douglasville, GA)- Love will be in the air on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024, at the Douglas County Courthouse. Probate Judge Christina J. Peterson is scheduled to officiate a mass wedding ceremony at 2:14 p.m. for 14 couples in recognition of the love-themed Valentine’s Day holiday. The ceremony will be held in Citizen's Hall followed by a reception. The event is free and open to the public.
Judge Peterson began the tradition of free monthly courthouse weddings shortly following her swearing-in as Probate Judge. In December 2023, she officiated a "Winter Wonderland" themed group wedding ceremony, joining 12 couples in matrimony. She has also performed similar ceremonies during the County’s annual September Saturdays community festival. Last year, Judge Peterson married 12 couples on Valentine’s Day during a similar ceremony. The upcoming “Valentine Vows” event will continue this tradition of love and unity.
To participate in the wedding ceremony service, couples must have obtained a marriage license from the Douglas County Probate Court.
