Douglas County Office of Communications Wins National Award for State of the County ‘Mission Possible’ Video
‘Savvy Awards’ Honor Excellence in Government Communications
(Douglasville, GA)- The Douglas County Office of Communications has been honored with a national “Award of Excellence” in connection with the City-County Communications & Marketing Association’s (3CMA) Savvy Awards for its innovative ‘Mission Possible’ video. The award was announced during the 2024 3CMA Annual Conference in Austin, Texas last week, convening government communicators from across the country for educational forums and a celebration of exceptional achievements in local government communications, public-sector marketing, and community engagement.
“Mission Possible,” a parody of the popular Mission Impossible movie franchise, was produced by the Communications Department as an introductory video for the 2024 State of the County address. It featured “cinematic” cameos by Commissioners and representatives from County Administration and other staff. The goal was to highlight the mission of moving Douglas County forward in a fun and unexpected manner as a primer for the keynote address.
"I am extremely proud of our Communications team and the work they are doing to elevate Douglas County in the communications space," stated Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, Chairman of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. 'Mission Possible' showcases the innovation and determination that drives Douglas County forward. We are deeply honored to receive this national recognition and more importantly, serve the citizens of Douglas County with messaging that informs, engages, and inspires.”
"This award is a testament to the creativity, talent, and skill of our Communications team led by our Chief Communications Officer, Yvette Jones, and Production Manager, Steven Opauski," said County Administrator Dr. David Corbin. 'Mission Possible' encapsulates our vision of resilience and progress. We're proud to share our story in such an engaging and fun way. I can’t wait to see what the team dreams up next year! We look forward to continuing our efforts to serve our community with creativity and excellence." The Savvy Awards honor skilled and effective city, county, agency, or district professionals who have creatively planned and executed successful innovations in communications and marketing. Over 1100 entries in 38 categories were received. 94 first-place Savvy Awards were presented. 94 second-place Silver Circle Awards and 93 third-place Awards of Excellence were also presented.
